How to Store Microgreens Fresh in Miami

Miami heat and humidity can wilt delicate greens fast. At Charlie's Greens, every microgreen is grown indoors in our controlled indoor / indoor vertical farm and harvested the day they ship so you get peak flavor — and a few simple storage habits help that indoor-grown freshness last through the week. Whether you ordered our Super Green mix, Color Mix, Pea Tendrils, or Basil, these tips keep clippings bright and ready for tacos, salads, and garnishes.

Get them cold quickly

As soon as your delivery arrives, open the container and move the greens into the refrigerator. Aim for the crisper drawer if it stays around 34–38°F. Avoid leaving a box on the counter while you unpack groceries; even twenty minutes in a warm kitchen shortens shelf life. If condensation has formed on the lid, gently blot excess moisture with a clean paper towel before sealing again.

Control moisture without drying them out

Microgreens need a little humidity but hate sitting in pooled water. Line a shallow container with a dry paper towel, place the greens loosely on top, and cover loosely so air can still move. Change the towel if it becomes damp. Do not wash until you are ready to eat — washing early invites spoilage in South Florida kitchens.

Use within a few days for best flavor

Most mixes taste brightest within three to five days of delivery. Pea tendrils stay sturdy a bit longer; basil is more delicate and prefers the coolest shelf away from the freezer vent. Check daily for any limp stems and remove them so the rest stay crisp. Because our greens leave an indoor farm under controlled indoor conditions, they arrive uniform and ready for cold storage.
